Memories in the Making is one of the Alzheimer’s Association’s signature programs. It allows people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias to explore their memories and emotions through the process of creating art. More than a traditional arts and crafts class or hobby activity, Memories in the Making has proven therapeutic benefits, can aid in communication, and can provide cognitive stimulation. Memories in the Making is made possible thanks to the generosity of Susan Disney Lord, Abigail Disney, Tim Disney, and Roy P. Disney in honor of their mother, Patricia Disney.

Each year, the California Southland Chapter hosts a gallery exhibition and sale of the amazing artwork created by artists of contracted MiM sites. It provides an opportunity for families to enjoy the art and raises funds for chapter programs and services of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Glen Park is a contracted, registered Alzheimer’s Association, California Southland Chapter Memories in the Making site. As pioneers in the field of memory care, we at Glen Park are thrilled to explore this alternative form of expression and communication. Our staff members who lead Memories in the Making have completed facilitator training specifically for this program, and offer it bi-weekly at both of our Glendale communities. If you think your loved one would benefit from participating in this wonderful opportunity, please reach out to one of our activities directors. For your convenience, the artist release forms are available here for download. Forms can be sent by fax, email, or mail.
